WIND: westerlies slowly returning to normal. TEMPERATURE: continuing about to above normal. SUNSHINE: returning to normal, after a cloudy May. SPECIALS: Southwest bursts. CONFIDENCE: low to moderate. Cold fronts rolling in from the Tasman Sea are bringing some periods of rain and some snow to the mountains. Ski fields may have a slow start, but once the snow settles in there should be regular top-ups. These cold periods are likely to be interspersed with milder dry episodes containing northerly winds. This "up and down" episodic weather should be the main pattern for the rest of winter. |
